چکیده مقاله:

Ultraviolet waves, because of their short wavelength, have a high energy and considerable damaging effects on surfaces. Protection against ultraviolet radiations is one of the finishing treatments done on surfaces exposed to sunlight. The importance of this issue in relation to human health, due to complications such as skin burns and cancer, is doubled. Up to now, different materials such as zinc oxide, titanium oxide and Aluminum oxide nano-particles have been introduced as the ultraviolet absorbents. In this paper, the absorption of singlewalled carbon nano-tubes (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nano-tubes (MWCNTs) was investigated and compared with common chemical absorbent materials. The results showed that carbon nano-tubes (CNTs),similar to other absorbents, have a specific absorption in this area. In addition, it was observed that the absorption of SWCNTs is comparable with other absorbents, and CNTs could be introduced as good substitutesfor ultraviolet absorbents in various applications.

High speed water sterilization using one-dimensional nanostructures.

The removal of bacteria and other organisms from water is an extremely important process, not only for drinking and sanitation but also industrially as biofouling is a commonplace and serious problem. We here present a textile based multiscale device for the high speed electrical sterilization of water using silver nanowires, carbon nanotubes, and cotton. This approach, which combines several m...

Stepwise nanopore evolution in one-dimensional nanostructures.

We report that established simple lithium (Li) ion battery cycles can be used to produce nanopores inside various useful one-dimensional (1D) nanostructures such as zinc oxide, silicon, and silver nanowires. Moreover, porosities of these 1D nanomaterials can be controlled in a stepwise manner by the number of Li-battery cycles. Subsequent pore characterization at the end of each cycle allows us...

Growth of anisotropic one-dimensional ZnS nanostructures{

Anisotropic growth in nanomaterials can lead to many interesting growth morphologies. This is especially true when the crystal structure contains anisotropy not only due to different surface plane energies but also due to surface polarity and/or chemical activity. Such is the case with wurtzite ZnS. This feature article covers the ZnS one-dimensional nanostructures that have been synthesized by...

Molecular interactions in one-dimensional organic nanostructures.

Intermolecular interactions involving pi-pi interaction and hydrogen bonding are used to create one-dimensional molecular nanostructures of hexasubstituted aromatics. Site-selective steady state fluorescence, time-resolved fluorescence, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy measurements detail the intermolecular interactions that drive the aromatic molecules to self-assemble...

Langmuir-Blodgett assembly of one-dimensional nanostructures.

The Langmuir-Blodgett technique has been used to assemble one-dimensional nanoscale building blocks. Various superstructures can be obtained as a result of different interactions between the individual nanostructures and different surface pressure applied. The general assembly behavior is exemplified here with BaCrO4, BaWO4, Au nanorods, and Mo3Se3 nanowires.
